Daisy Vega opened her first restaurant, Esmeralda’s Cafe, in 1995, serving up a selection of dishes from Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine. Vega has since moved on from Esmeralda’s Cafe (it’s still open at 1000 E Charleston Blvd, Suite 101, under new management), and now the longtime Vegas restaurant owner is moving on to a new project.

Called Esmeralda’s Restaurant (named, like the cafe, after Vega’s daughter), the new restaurant will open at 2955 Sunset Road next month.

“We’re going to serve tacos, burritos, and pupusas, all very inexpensive and very delicious,” Vega told What Now on Tuesday. “We’re also going delicious steak on the grill, fish, shrimp—it’s a full menu of both Mexican and Salvadorean food.”

Opening right next to Sunset Park, the Esmeralda’s Restaurant will feature friendly service and a familiar family-restaurant setting.

“It’s going to have a nice, family atmosphere. A full restaurant, plus beer and wine.”

Keep an eye out for Esmeralda’s Restaurant opening soon on Sunset Road!
