There were 4 risk factor violations at A Lagosta Restaurant. A plastic trash container prevented employees from using the handwash sink in the bar area. Food contact surfaces were not sanitary with food debris and soiled utensils found in the 3-compartment sink.

The slicer contained food debris and had not been sanitized in accordance with required intervals. Items in the walk-in cooler, such as black beans and mashed potatoes, lacked proper date marking. Other violations included beverages improperly stored in the basement, wiping cloths not stored in sanitizing solution, and non-food-grade containers used for bulk ingredients.

Inspectors observed mouse droppings in both the food preparation and customer service areas. The facility lacked proper temperature measuring devices for cold-prep equipment. Foil lining was observed on shelving in the customer service area.

The restaurant showed signs of poor maintenance with cracked and missing floor tiles throughout the food prep area. Damaged walls, holes under the warewashing sink, and stained ceiling tiles were noted. The facility also had inadequate lighting in food prep and service areas.

The facilities were not in compliance at the time of inspection. Reinspections will be conducted to assess whether violations have been addressed.
