Fast- casual dining has not always been a friend to those pursuing a healthy lifestyle. Recent years, however, have seen the market stretch and expand to welcome customers who value speed and convenience while also prioritizing nutrition. Newtown Square diners will soon be benefiting from this development, as married entrepreneurs Andrea and David Rea prepare to introduce Toastique-a gourmet toast chain with an emphasis on healthy eating-to the neighborhood.

The free-standing restaurant will be occupying 1,257 square feet at 108 Squire Drive. Andrea carved out some time to speak with What Now Philadelphia about bringing the chain to her local community. “I live in Media and Newtown Square is very close to me and my family.” she states. “I think it is a great community that will be welcoming of the Toastique brand.”

Rea feels the demographic is particularly keen to embrace Toastique’s delicious and nutritious offerings. She explains: “The space has a lot of young families, young people…It’s a health conscious community and that’s the essence of the brand-making healthy food accessible. It’s a great spot to introduce the brand to Delco and hopefully Philadelphia at large.”

Founded in 2018, Toastique is a relatively new face on the fast-casual scene. Rea looks forward to introducing the brand to a slew of new future regulars, offering this insight as to what’s on the horizon: “It’s a gourmet toast and juice bar, but we do a lot more. The star is our gourmet toast- when people think of toast they largely think of avocado toast, but we have a whole menu of gourmet toast…everything from spicy crab to vegetarian options, vegan options, protein-forward options.”

Newtown Square foodies are certain to relish the fresh nature of the cuisine. Rea explains the brand’s process, saying: “Everything is made in-house, from hummus to peanut butter. We have smoothies, acai bows, protein treats, a whole grab-and-go section featuring healthy options. We have options that will fit any diet, from keto to vegan to gluten free-everything can be made gluten free.”

The Reas plan to source as many ingredients as possible locally.

Newtown locals need not live in suspense of the opening; the countdown is officially on. Toastique’s grand opening is set for July 19, and the Reas couldn’t be more excited. Andrea states: “We are official now! We passed our health inspection on Monday. We’re having a big grand opening celebration where the first 100 people in line will get 50 Toastique dollars to spend. We’ll have a DJ, and it will be a really fun event. “

The Newtown Square Toastique is only the beginning for the couples’ collaboration with the brand. Rea states: “We definitely want to expand. We don’t have a formal commitment, but it’s definitely in our long-term plan.”
