Williamsburg Welcomes A New Smør Eatery
Having opened in 2019, Smør has been serving patrons Nordic-inspired food items. On June 25, the bakery opened Smør Bakery & Test Kitchen at 155 Powers Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This marks the brand’s fourth food venture in the city after Smør Bakery, Smør East Village, and Smør Clinton Hill.
Currently, the Williamsburg location operates Wednesday through Sunday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Beginning July 14, it will shift to a daily schedule with the same hours.
The newest Williamsburg outlet is a retail bakery plus an R&D lab, which brings out the creative side of Smør. This NY establishment is geared up for recipes that are thoughtfully imagined, tested, and refined before getting a place on the menu.
Features of the Food Establishment
The 3,000-square-foot location includes a 400-square-foot guest area with seating for 16 and counter service. Both indoor and outdoor seating options are available.
The space blends industrial touches with minimalist Danish design, featuring light wood accents, white tiles, stainless steel finishes, and an open kitchen.
Patrons are sure to experience a relaxed atmosphere at Smør Bakery & Test Kitchen, where they can get quick bites of pastry or chill over coffee.
The Team Behind Smør Bakery & Test Kitchen
Sebastian Perez and Copenhagen-trained chef Sebastian Bangsgaard co-founded Smør in 2019. Their vision blends culinary tradition with modern hospitality, which now evolves through this latest concept.
Copenhagen-based Bangsgaard brings along his experience as a trained chef. Perez has a good knowledge of modern hospitality. Rowan Gill joins the Smør team as Head Baker, bringing experience from Bien Cuit as well as bakeries in Sweden and New Hampshire.
The trio is eager to present their creative food ideas through delicacies at Smør Bakery & Test Kitchen.
Menu at the New NY Bakery
The signature dishes at Williamsburg’s latest Nordic-inspired bakery include the Danish raspberry shortbread Hindbærsnitter. Bolle med ost is another Danish breakfast staple, which can be served with new additions.
The menu includes breakfast items (like avocado toast), signature drinks, and sandwiches as well.
Smør Bakery & Test Kitchen can also offer guests new takes on Smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches served on Danish rye). Imported Scandinavian goods, along with local pantry staples, will be offered. Other items include Scandinavian candies, jams, hot sauces, and olive oils.
