Eating out is a special experience, one that should be filled with joy and fun-a fact that unfortunately is often lost to fine dining. One of Philadelphia’s premiere restaurateurs is doing his part to ensure the city’s food scene remains full of whimsy. Acclaimed chef Jess Ito is opening a new Izakaya concept called Dancerobot, and it’s certain to put smiles on the faces of its future regulars, reports local media outlet Rittenhouse Ramblings.
The casual concept will be setting up shop at 1710 Sansom Street. While a precise opening date is not yet available, Dancerobot appears to be eying a later summer debut.
Dancerobot comes with a remarkable pedigree; founder Jesse Ito has received considerable acclaim for Royal Sushi & Izakaya, a restaurant named one of the best in Philadelphia by The New York Times. While Dancerobot will undoubtedly maintain the same level of quality as Royal Sushi & Izakaya, the new restaurant aims to offer a more laid-back and fun experience. The menu will prominently focus on a selection of Japanese classics paired with “modern takes on Japanese comfort food” , ranging from katsu curry to hamburger steak with demi glace and wasabi mashed potato.
Visitors won’t have to wait until the sun goes down to enjoy Dancerobot’s fare. A social media post from Jesse Ito regarding Dancerobot’s opening states: “For brunch expect fluffy pancakes, housemade milk bread toasts, and brunchy yaki onigiri. Oh, and Japanese breakfast—Teishoku”
