G.O.A.T. Pizza at 9623 Bailey Road in Cornelius has temporarily closed, according to an announcement on the brand’s website. It plans to reopen in early September prior to the start of football season.
The brand cited a need for a break during the slower months of the year, and plans to prepare a fall menu, as the reasons for the temporary closure, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
Chef David Burke is behind the concept, which opened last year in Cornelius. It serves a variety of pizzas, including fresh margherita, all-American pepperoni, Big Wave Hawaiian and Home Run Sausage. There are also gluten-free options like cauliflower crust pizzas. Other menu offerings include smashburgers, sandwiches and salads.
The spot centers around the idea of the “Greatest of All Time,” and it has nods to sports greats in its decor and design.
The concept of G.O.A.T. celebrates great pizza, great pasta and great smashburgers in a comfortable dining room creates a communal setting where friends, neighbors and family can enjoy a delicious meal and friendly conversation,” the website states.
Burke is behind a variety of concepts across New York and New Jersey, including David Burke Tavern, Park Avenue Kitchen, Red Horse and King Bar. He also has a restaurant on the way to West Palm Beach, Fla. called Seahawk Prime.
