Inspectors visited Jerry’s Bar on West Laurel Street on July 25. On-site inspectors noted severely dented canned items in the lower prep kitchen area. These were discarded during the inspection.

There was no label on the working hand soap container in the first-floor bar area. An unhandled container was found in direct contact with bulk zushi rice, violating food safety protocols.

In the upper prep kitchen, the handwashing sink along the refrigeration line had slow draining. Grease buildup was observed on the floor beneath the fryers. There was food debris accumulating on the first-floor bar, underneath the wine refrigeration unit.

Machos Delish Mix on Catharine Street was cited for multiple violations during the July 25 inspection. The on-site inspector documented that uncovered food was in the cold prep refrigerator. The raw chicken was above the frozen vegetables, the spice oil, and the shrimp.

Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat foods were prepared and stored for more than 48 hours. These were in the refrigerator with no date marked on them. There was visible evidence of house fly activity in the facility.

The facility also required general cleaning throughout, according to the inspection report. There were moist wiping cloths lying on the kitchen sink instead of in the sanitizing solution. Static dust and grease were accumulating on the hood filters.
