Two new Nugget Markets locations are coming soon to the Sacramento area, promising a feast of fresh-baked breads, gourmet sandwiches, chef-prepared meals, and more.
The family-owned, Davis-based supermarket and culinary destination will open its next location in the 42,000-square-foot former Walmart building at 4080 Douglas Blvd in Granite Bay sometime this month. A second shop at 1051 Whitney Ranch Pkwy in Rocklin is slated to follow by the summer of 2026, according to the company’s website.
Nugget Markets offers a European-style marketplace experience, where shoppers can browse premium perishables, specialty groceries, and a wide selection of organic and locally sourced products. What truly sets the chain apart, though, is the bustling in-house bakery, deli, chef-driven kitchen, and coffee/juice bar.
“Our aim is to provide a unique and uplifting shopping experience with an emphasis on fresh, organic, quality products that are both sourced locally and internationally. We want to have items for everybody,” Store Director Cody Moody told Gold Country Media. “We’re going to put a huge emphasis on the deli and kitchen with chef-prepared entrees and sandwiches ready to go but also our meat department with fresh-cut steaks, dry-aged meats, premium products but also things you can eat every day.”
The bakery takes pride in offering artisan breads made fresh daily, alongside custom-order cakes and other sweet treats. Meanwhile, the deli serves up a drool-worthy selection of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and sides made from scratch. Fan favorites include the BLTA, Pork Banh Mi, and Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich.
But it doesn’t stop there. Nugget’s chef-driven kitchen whips up a wide variety of crave-worthy dishes, such as Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Parmesan, and Spaghetti and Meatballs, along with daily selections of sushi, cheeses, and ready-to-eat meals.
Coffee lovers can look forward to “the highest quality coffees and espressos,” roasted locally in partnership with Equator Coffees, while the juice bar offers a refreshing lineup of citrus juices, power shots, and nutrient-packed açaí and pitaya bowls.
Founded in 1926 by father-and-son William and Mack Stille, Nugget Markets has grown steadily over the past century. The Granite Bay location will mark its 17th store, carrying forward a legacy that blends old-school hospitality with modern culinary flair.
