Shane’s Rib Shack served its final meals in Cumberland on July 27. The popular barbecue joint shared a heartfelt thank-you to its guests and the local community. On Facebook, the owners said, “To our amazing guests and community, after much thought, we’ve made the difficult decision to close the Cumberland Shane’s Rib Shack.”

The owners thanked loyal customers for their support, memories, and years of shared meals in the post. The owners did not share any explanation for the closure.

Years of Barbecue Tradition

Shane’s Rib Shack prides itself on family values, hard work, and great BBQ. In 2002, Shane Thompson and his wife, Stacey, opened their first shack in McDonough, Georgia. Inspired by his grandfather’s secret BBQ recipe, he left his corporate career to launch the first Shane’s Rib Shack.

The community admired the restaurant for its hospitality and service. Guests were encouraged to visit nearby Shane’s Rib Shack locations in Norcross and Edgewood.

The menu features sandwiches, burgers, lunch baskets, and BBQ plates. In addition to the mains, the restaurant serves a selection of side staples, including Wings & Tenders, Shack Fries, and Shack Salads.

Family and kids’ meals are also available, offering affordable options for groups of all sizes. Shane’s serves a variety of desserts and beverages with many gluten-sensitive options. Shane’s also offers catering and sells its signature house-made sauces.

  • Oh wow! I am shocked. I used to eat at the Shane’s in Sandy Springs & they used to have one on Atlanta Road, I think. I was just telling co-workers about them & their delicious tenders & their peach tea. Their cobbler was delicious too. I am sorry to see them go. I don’t go to the areas where the other restaurants are so I guess this is the end for me.

  • I am so very saddened that they closed. I am from Charlotte and Shane’s was my favorite place to eat. I wa so happy to see a location not even 10 minutes from me after moving to Atl. Now they are gone…boo hoo!!
