A bookstore cafe under the filing The Stone Rabbit LLC is seeking a liquor license at 4-6 Bleecker Street, according to community board filings. It will take a 3,600-square-foot space, split across the ground floor and cellar. The space was formerly home to the Ghost Donkey.
Paperwork indicates that the spot will be inspired by Parisian book cafes and will serve as a gathering space for people to discuss history, current events and literature. It will feature a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu.
For breakfast, expect to see rotating savory scones, muffins, yogurt bowls, avocado tartine and smoked salmon bagels. The lunch menu will offer items like assorted tea sandwiches (such as cucumber mint creme and curried chicken salad), a Mediterranean mezze plate and charcuterie boards. The dinner menu will feature toasted sandwiches, spiced lamb meatballs and mini empanadas.
Plans for the space call for 18 tables that will seat 40 and one bar that will seat 10. The proposed hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily, with extended hours to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
What Now New York has reached out to owner Marianna Vaidman Stone, who confirmed the location. However, further details are still forthcoming and are expected to be revealed as they grow closer to opening.
