New York-based cafe Maman has a second location lined up in the Charlotte market. It has plans to join Atherton Mill in South End, taking the space that was formerly Luna’s Living Kitchen, according to reporting by Jason Thomas.

Bartaco was initially slated to open in the space, located at 2000 South Blvd, but that deal did not come to fruition.

The plans for a South End location for Maman come shortly after the cafe revealed it would bring its first location to Charlotte, inking a deal at the Commonwealth development in Plaza Midwood. That location is expected to open early next year.

Maman, founded by Benjamin Sormonte and Elisa Marshall in SoHo in 2014, is known for its French-inspired menu and atmosphere. The menu features coffee, tea, sandwiches, salads, pastries and breakfast items, with dishes like the smashed avocado tartine, quiche, a ham and cheese croissant sandwich and pastries such as the “everything croissant.”

The cafe aims to bring rustic, cozy designs to each of their shops, featuring design elements like wooden farm tables and their signature blue-and-white china.

Maman has been in expansion mode recently, with plans for new locations across multiple markets, including its home market of New York. It has nearly 50 locations across seven states, Washington, D.C. and Canada, with plenty more spots in the pipeline.

An exact opening timeline for the South End location is unknown. However, it appears the spot is still in the early stages of development.
