Over 25 years in Ukrainian Village, Bacci Pizzeria served more than 500,000 of its signature Jumbo Slices, a Chicago favorite.
Bobby and Lesa introduced the Jumbo Slice in 1996 when they opened a small shop on Taylor Street in Chicago’s Little Italy, across from Bobby’s childhood home. The local community embraced it immediately, and 25 years later, the flavors and traditions of Bacci Pizzeria have expanded throughout Chicago and nearby suburbs.
Other Locations Remain Open
Though the Ukrainian Village Bacci Pizzeria will close, customers can still visit other Chicago locations and catch them at Chicagoland summer festivals.
The owners said Jumbo Slice lives on at locations in Taylor Street, The Loop/Downtown, and Madison St. The brand urged followers to drop their favorite memory in the comments.
Patrons expressed sadness and nostalgia over the closure of the location. Many people shared personal memories, including late-night meals, high school hangouts, post-football practice gatherings, family traditions, and childhood experiences.
Many patrons shared that it had been their go-to spot, a late-night favorite, or the place they tried their first Jumbo Slice, expressing heartfelt gratitude and nostalgia.
Family-owned from the start, Bacci Pizzeria will continue to honor its traditions and serve customers with the same personal care.
