A barbecue restaurant in Huntley is expanding to another northwest suburb next year.
It has been reported that BBQ King Smokehouse will be opening at the new Water’s Edge development in Crystal Lake. This comes along with news of a First Watch location coming to the area. Owner and founder of BBQ King Smokehouse Jason Szmurlo said there is no address yet.
The development will be close to the Water’s Edge Apartments at 311 Water’s Edge Drive. This is a commercial area of the suburb with restaurants like Kyoto Japanese, Panera Bread and Buffalo Wild Wings. According to an article from Shaw Local, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt is also expected to come to the development, and openings will start next year.
Szmurlo started the business after participating in barbecue competitions in Kansas City. He found an old condemned house at 11706 Coral Street in Huntley and opened his first smokehouse in 2018. This marks his first expansion for the business.
BBQ King is known for its World Famous Award Winning Wings, as well as the World Famous Original Smokehouse Burger. The restaurant also offers clubs, wraps, salads, and mac-and-cheese bowls. The new location’s menu is expected to be very similar.
The restaurant’s social media has remained relatively quiet about the new location. For more information on BBQ King Smokehouse, visit their website bbqkingsmokehouse.com.
