A restaurant based in New York is planning its first expansion. Flora, part of Rooted Hospitality Group, is planning to open in a 5,000-square-foot space at Atherton Mill at 2120 South Blvd in winter of 2026, according to reporting by the Charlotte Business Journal.
It will take the space home to The Eagle Food & Beer Hall, which is closing this week, according to an Instagram announcement.
“This community has been our heart, and we are so grateful for every meal shared, every laugh across the table and every friendship formed within these walls,” The Eagle announced on its Instagram page.
David and Rachel Hersh launched Rooted Hospitality Group in Long Island, New York, in 2009. They opened their first restaurant, Rumba, in Hampton Bays in 2010. They later added Cowfish and Rhum (which was rebranded to another Rumba location) in New York.
The team opened the original Flora location in Westhampton Beach, New York, in 2020, and later opened sister restaurant Fauna in the area in 2022.
They also operate Avo Taco, which has two locations in New York and one in New Orleans. In addition, the hospitality group brought their restaurant concept Rumba to the New Orleans market.
Flora offers a New American menu featuring seafood, steak, sandwiches, salads and other protein-driven entrees like harvest chicken and maple-soy glazed pork chop. It serves brunch, lunch and dinner, and it offers a beverage program featuring cocktails and wine.
This will be the group’s first foray into the North Carolina market.
