On the heels of announcing plans for the first Dave’s Cosmic Subs location heading to Nashville, Jim Yashnyk, chief strategy officer for Dave’s Cosmic Subs, shared plans for a second location in the market. Yashnyk told What Now Nashville that they have inked a lease at Publix-anchored shopping center Oakwood Commons in Hermitage. It is expected to open in mid- to late February.
Ultimately, the brand has plans for seven locations in the Nashville market. Yashnyk said they are looking to target various suburbs of Nashville and build out from there.
These two locations are part of a broader expansion for the brand beyond Nashville. Dave’s Cosmic Subs has been preparing for a phase of growth since private real estate investment firm Sidhu Realty Capital, helmed by CEO Paul Sidhu, purchased the brand. Now, they are planning to add 30 more corporate-owned locations in the next three years, as well as some additional franchise locations through area development deals with existing franchisees in Cleveland and Atlanta.
“We looked at where we have locations now — predominantly in Cleveland, and one in Vermont and Atlanta,” Yashnyk said. “The perfect thing to complete that trail is to open some in Cincinnati, open some in Nashville, head across to Memphis and go to North and South Carolina to work our way down the Eastern seaboard.”
Dave’s Cosmic Subs serves a variety of sandwiches, including Italian, chicken, beef, tuna and veggie. Popular options include The Crazy Dave and Dave’s Best Meatball Ever.
Dave’s Cosmic Subs finds its roots in Ohio, where founder Dave Lombardy opened the first shop in 1997. Now, there are about 20 locations.
