The city just outside of Chicagoland is getting a new concept from two experienced chefs and restaurant owners.
In a recent report from Rockford River Current, locals Scott Carlson and Randy Baker are opening a new restaurant called The Raven at 6876 Spring Creek Road, Suite 136. It is meant to be a space celebrating dishes from their childhoods, with cocktails served as well. There is no opening date yet, but construction is happening inside.
Randy Baker is the owner of Baker Street Burgers at 1603 N Alpine Road. Carlson had previously worked at restaurants including GreenFire and the Five Forks Market. The two are bringing their experience in American cuisine to this new ambitious project coming to the east side of the city.
“Rockford’s dining scene is about to get bolder!” Said a recent post from First Midwest Group, the real estate developer overseeing the project.
The Raven will have dishes that are favorites of the owners, including chicken and waffles, goulash, and a Viet-Cajun po’ boy. The drinks for the menu have not been released, but martinis and wines can be expected.
Formerly at the space was Fuego Nuevo Grill. Now, the owners are installing a new kitchen and will give the space a complete redesign. This is across from Salt, a fine dining restaurant.
Their social media is not yet set up, but their website has the message: “The Raven Rockford, landing soon.” More information on the opening will be released in the near future.
