Ricilia Caribbean Cuisine Opening in Miami

The retail center on Northwest 119th Street, between Northwest 12th and 13th Avenues in Miami, will soon welcome a brand-new Caribbean restaurant into the mix. It’s called Ricilia Caribbean Cuisine, and it’s opening at 1233 NW 119th St., according to submitted plan review documents.

“It’s going to be Caribbean food: rice, beans, Taco Tuesdays, and a few other menu items,” Jerry, a co-owner of Ricilia Caribbean Cuisine, told What Now on Wednesday. “It is more on the Haitian side, but it’s very diverse. A little of everything.”

Ricilia Caribbean will open in a small space with seating for 8-10 guests, emphasizing takeout orders. The restaurant is Jerry’s first foray into the restaurant business, but as is often the case, there’s a family history.

“My mother owned a restaurant in the past, so I have some experience,” Jerry said. “I love to cook, and my spouse loves to cook, and we wanted to go that route and learn. Food is something you can make into a legacy for your kids and family.”

As if to prove that point, the restaurant has been named Ricilia, after Jerry’s mother.

“She’s done so much, she was mother and father to all of us. Now her name can always remain.”
