Brett’s Waterway Cafe on Fernandina Harbor Marina in Amelia Island is closing after 41 years of serving the community. The restaurant shared the news through Facebook that its final day of service will be Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Brett’s Waterway Cafe offers creative land-and-sea dishes in a relaxed, casual setting, with sweeping views of Fernandina Harbor and the marina on the Amelia River. The restaurant also features a full bar and curated wine list.

“After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to close Brett’s Waterway Café. Our final day of service will be Saturday, October 4, 2025. For over 41 years, Brett’s has been more than a restaurant, it’s been a place for family, friends, and memories.”, the Facebook post read.

A Cherished Local Spot

Known for its sweeping sunset views and prime location on Amelia Island, Brett’s became a go-to spot for celebrations and community traditions. Generations of locals have celebrated milestones at Brett’s, from family gatherings to holiday traditions like New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July shrimp drop.

“People have their favorite table. They come here for New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July shrimp drop,” City Manager Sarah Campbell said, highlighting Brett’s role in the community.

While Brett’s Waterway Cafe is closing, it leaves behind more than 40 years of cherished memories, a spot where locals gathered to enjoy great food and coastal charm.
