Plans for the long-anticipated Lodge at San Clemente are moving forward after the San Clemente City Council approved modifications this week to include a rooftop restaurant and lounge. According to 926OC, the green light was given for the upgrades to designs for the property, which will be at 401 W. Avenida Vista Hermosa.

Meeting records from last month show the height limit for the project was increased from 45 feet to 62 feet to accommodate a fifth floor and rooftop. The eatery will be open to the public and include 171 dining seats and 33 bar seats, offering panoramic ocean views. The hotel itself will feature up to 130 rooms.

Developer Steve Craig with Craig Realty Group is leading the charge of the resort’s conception. He also owns the Outlets at San Clemente shopping center that neighbors the site. Craig has been working on the hotel since 2004, and first introduced the idea of a rooftop deck back in 2019, Picket Fence Media claims.

Buzz has been going around that Marriott has been tapped to be the operator of The Lodge at San Clemente. While nothing has been publicly confirmed, several consultants for the project mention it; it’s listed as an Autograph Collection by DREY Interiors and labeled as a Marriott by Ricca Design Studios, an international foodservice design firm.
