Alkebu-Lan Images Bookstore owner Jordan Harris and SmoQe Signals BBQ founder Shon Harmon are partnering on a series of new hospitality concepts, which will all be housed in a North Nashville building at 1408 Buchanan St., according to the Nashville Business Journal.

Among a few other concepts, the space will provide a home for a flagship location for SmoQe Signals BBQ, according to a recent post on the SmoQe Signals BBQ Instagram page. The brand has been operating as a food truck in Nashville for years, serving “SmoQe’d Meats, Great Bourbon, Good Times.”

In the North Nashville building, the BBQ concept will take the form of full-service restaurant The Pulled Pit, which will feature Harmon’s beloved Tennessee-style BBQ flavors. The spot is expected to open in September 2026.

Harris’s father, Yusef Harris, opened Alkebu-Lan Images in 1986. Since then, it has provided books and insight into Black religious, history, philosophy, art and culture. Harris now carries on that legacy as the owner of the longstanding bookstore. The forthcoming concepts heading to North Nashville will further his entrepreneurial footprint on the Nashville community.

Construction on the space is largely still to come.
