Whataburger is expanding in Tennessee. Knoxville-based franchise company MWB Restaurants is planning to open two locations this year in Powell and Turkey Creek.

MWB Restaurants teased the construction on both sites on their Instagram page, indicating that the Turkey Creek location is nearing opening and the Powell location should be open by the end of the year.

The franchise group, owned by Anderson Investment Group, has built up a portfolio of 16 restaurants since launching in 2021. Nearly all of their current locations are in Alabama, with just one in Knoxville. However, the company has plans to build out locations in East Tennessee. In addition to the forthcoming Turkey Creek and Powell locations, MWB Restaurants is bringing two locations to Chattanooga.

Whataburger has multiple locations in Tennessee. However, it has a stronger presence in areas like Nashville rather than East Tennessee.

The burger chain has also been expanding in other areas. It entered the North Carolina market earlier this year and has been spreading across the state.
