Family-friendly entertainment center Thunderzone is developing its second location. The spot, which opened in Douglasville in 2014, is planning to open in a 38,000-square-foot building at 1004 Bankhead Hwy, Suite A1, in Carrollton.
“We’ve been looking at Carrollton for some time and it was worthwhile for us to go into that location,” owner Steve Traylor told What Now Atlanta. “We were just at a point where we felt like it was time to pull the trigger.”
In Douglasville, Thunderzone features 28 bowling lanes, an arcade featuring 60 play stations, laser tag and yard games. It also features Thunderzone Bar & Grill, which serves items like pizza, wings, chicken tenders, nachos, mozzarella sticks, burgers, chicken sandwiches, quesadillas, wraps and salad bowls.
The Carrollton location will have some differences in terms of layout and offerings. The new spot will not have laser tag and will instead feature golf simulators.
The layout of the space will include a glassed-in bar placed between the bowling lanes so that customers can enjoy food and beverages while watching activities going on around the space.
Moving forward, Traylor is hoping to expand the concept beyond Douglasville and Carollton.
“We take it one day at a time, but we would like to expand further,” Traylor said.
The team is aiming to roll out three to five locations over the next several years. They are currently scouting additional locations.
The location in Carrollton will likely open by the beginning of March.
