Whataburger has been in expansion mode in multiple states, including Tennessee. East Tennessee is receiving several locations in the coming months. Knoxville-based franchise company MWB Restaurants is spearheading much of the growth in the region for the burger chain, including spots in Powell and Turkey Creek.
They also have a new location on the way to the Chattanooga area heading to 6521 Ringgold Road in East Ridge.
Plans for the site were first approved by the City of East Ridge in February of this past year and construction has been ongoing, with plans for the spot to open by the end of the year, according to an announcement from the city.
“I am thrilled to welcome Whataburger to East Ridge. This has been an incredible project to work on over the past couple of years, and it is rewarding to see Whataburger choose East Ridge as its newest home. This prime location will be a fantastic addition to our community and economy,” East Ridge mayor Brian Williams said in a statement at the time.
MWB Restaurants, owned by Anderson Investment Group, has built up a portfolio of 16 restaurants since launching in 2021. Nearly all of their current locations are in Alabama, with just one in Knoxville.
The burger chain celebrated 75 years this year, and they entered the North Carolina market earlier this year, as well.
