A Pittsburgh-based milkshake and chocolate shop is expanding into Florham Park, New Jersey.
The Milkshake Factory will open at 187 Columbia Turnpike led by husband-and-wife team Matt and Julie Hagovsky. Matt told What Now Philadelphia Julie will serve as general manager.
The Florham Park shop is part of a larger New Jersey expansion for The Milkshake Factory. The first location recently opened at 177 Newark Ave. in downtown Jersey City, with another set to follow in Somerville at 189 W. Main St, according to a press release.
Both will operate independently from the Hagovskys’ store.
The founder and CEO expressed excitement about expanding into the Garden State.
“New Jersey is such a vibrant, diverse state, and we’re excited to introduce our signature shakes and chocolates here,” Dana Edwards said in a statement.
While an official opening date hasn’t been announced for the Florham Park and Somerville locations, both are expected to be up and running by early 2026.
The Milkshake Factory began as a small chocolate and soda fountain shop in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood in 1914. Its success led to the opening of Dona’s Chocolate Shop on the city’s South Side in 1995. Nearly a decade later, Dona’s daughter, Edwards, reimagined the family business and launched what would become The Milkshake Factory, according to the website.
The spot is famous for its indulgent signature shakes, including the Chocolate Cake Shake, Campfire S’mores, Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry and Cookie Jar. It also offers classic and dairy-free shakes in flavors like chocolate, cookies and cream, strawberry and peanut butter. Beyond shakes, the menu features sundaes, floats and handcrafted chocolates made from the family’s original recipe using sustainably sourced cocoa.
The shop now operates over 30 locations in 17 states.
“We are expanding our legacy and growing our family across the country with the mission to support the communities we serve in. As our family continues to expand, we are staying true to our legacy of commitment to quality and service with a smile,” the website reads.
