A project from a well-known Hollywood name and local talent is coming to the city’s downtown.
It is being reported JD’s Stage Bistro will be opening next year at 117 ½ South Main Street in downtown Chelsea. Tannin Property Group is partnering with Jeff Daniels and his team to open the space. Right now, it is looking like it will debut in spring 2026.
JD’s Stage Bistro is a commitment to Chelsea’s future,” said the press release from the company. “The venue will create new job opportunities for restaurant and event staff, provide opportunities for local and regional musicians, and serve as an intergenerational gathering place that will enhance Main Street activity and support neighboring businesses.”
Daniels is a local of Chelsea, and there are many working on this project including chef Nate Wegryn. He is a highly experienced chef who has worked at the recently opened Echelon Kitchen and The Dixboro Project, both in Ann Arbor.
Wegryn told What Now Detroit the project will be on one side of the event space, there will be a restaurant and a stage with be on the other side, along with a cocktail bar. For the kitchen, a wood fire pizza oven is being installed. The menu is being kept under wraps right now, but it will offer bistro items to be expected.
The space is being designed by multiple individuals including Aaron Vermeulen from OX Studio, a firm based in Ann Arbor. It is being built next to Chelsea Bakery and Serendipity Books. This is in the heart of downtown Chelsea, which is west of Ann Arbor and just under an hour outside Detroit.
