Several food establishments were inspected by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. These routine checks monitor compliance with food-safety regulations.

Restaurants That Underwent Routine Inspections Last Week

Inspectors reviewed several Philadelphia restaurants between November 3 and 7. The inspection reports are as follows:

Mr. Platano

According to the report, the eatery had unlabeled containers and improper holding temperatures.

Mr. Platano serves Latin American fusion dishes. During the November 21 inspection, the restaurant was cited for several major violations. According to the report, the eatery had unlabeled containers and improper holding temperatures. Other citations included severe grease and dust accumulation.

The report said the facility had several pieces of equipment that were inoperable or unapproved. The eatery was also missing the test strips needed to verify sanitizer concentration, among others. A full inspection report is available here.

China Gourmet

Inspection Date: November 24, 2025

Known for its dim sum carts and large aquarium, China Gourmet offers over 50 types of dim sum. Inspected on November 24, the eatery was cited for evidence of fruit fly and rodent activity. Health inspectors noted mouse droppings across the facility. The report said drying shelves in the warewashing area had grease and dust buildup.

The report also noted food debris inside the microwave and improper holding temperatures were observed, among others. A reinspection is expected to be conducted soon. A full inspection report is available here.
