Philz Coffee, a California-born chain known for its pour-over blends, is reportedly planning a new location in Irvine. Orange County Health Care Agency records confirm the business filed documents indicating it wishes to build a new coffee shop at 7700 Great Park Blvd, Unit A.

The project is classified as a “new construction – restaurant under 2,000 sq ft,” currently in the early review phase with local environmental health authorities. A PR rep for the company told What Now OC they “don’t have new store information to share at this time”.

Founded by Phil Jaber, the chain opened its first official coffee shop in San Francisco’s Mission District over 20 years ago. Since then, Philz has grown into a national chain, now operating a few stores in the Chicagoland area as well.

In its native California, Philz has an impressive presence. NorCal hosts nearly 50 locations, while there are a few in Central Cali and a growing portfolio of OC and San Diego stores. There are a few others listed as coming soon, but Irvine hasn’t been officially added yet.
