A new spot for drinks is brewing on the west side of the neighborhood.

Representatives from LaSchora Hospitality filed a liquor license for a new bar called Fathom coming to 1622 W Belmont Avenue in Lakeview. This comes from the hospitality group that opened Dorothy Downstairs in West Town. Managing Partner Whitney LaMora told What Now Chicago the company is not ready to announce anything just yet.

Dorothy Downstairs at 2500 W Chicago Avenue and opened in 2022.. This is advertised as a “neighborhood lesbian cocktail lounge,” from their website. Both Lamora and fellow owner Zoe Schor are managing partners for Fathom.

The new space is listed as a tavern in the liquor license application. It will be on the first floor of the building, which is near the corner of N Lincoln Avenue and W Belmont Avenue. Next to the space is Late Night Thai, and The Pony Inn is a few storefronts down.

Lamora and LaSchora Hospitality are expected to release more information on the project sometime early next year.
