A Memphis building is getting a new life and a new purpose in 2026. Theron Davis is hoping to turn his Rare & Splendid space from a retail store into a restaurant serving all meals and all demographics.

The would-be eatery is aiming to set up shop at 943 Mississippi Boulevard according to paperwork filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development. The relevant conditional use permit filed on January 16 offers a snapshot of Davis’s vision for the space and his plans to “re-purpose the existing building once used as a Convenience Store as a new Restaurant. The new Restaurant will offer Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch and Dinner foods to its customers on a To-Go Order or a Sit-Down Family environment enjoyable to all ages. There will be parking to the south of the building for the customers to utilize during their visit.”

An opening timeline is not immediately available for Rare & Splendid’s new restaurant iteration, however the project is still clearly in the early stages, suggesting Memphis diners may have a bit of a wait ahead of them. What Now Memphis has reached out to ownership for further details and will update readers as additional information becomes available.
