A nationally recognized bagel shop is expanding in Central Ohio. Lox Bagel Shop is opening a new location at 2140 Ikea Way in Columbus, bringing its signature bagels to the Polaris area.
The shop is known for producing hand-rolled, boiled, and baked bagels, along with made-to-order bagel sandwiches. Its bagels are a deliberate blend of New York and Montreal styles, boiled first, then finished in a live-fire oven. The result is a bagel that balances a crisp exterior with a soft interior, built on classic technique and high-quality ingredients.
That approach has earned national attention. Bon Appétit Magazine included the shop in its roundup of The Very Best Bagels in the US (Yes, Outside New York), noting, “Unlike its predecessors in the Midwest, which largely trafficked in convenience-food bagels, the Lox Bagel Shop turns out excellent bagels that blend the styles of New York and Montreal. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of High Street in Columbus’s Short North Arts District, the shop’s charming fish logo welcomes in old and new customers alike for freshly baked, hand-rolled bagels.”
Food & Wine Magazine also named it among The Best Bagels in America, praising the intentional hybrid style. “At the finest bagel shop in Ohio’s happening capital city, the bakers are proud of their hybrid creation, and they really ought to be,” the publication wrote. “Essentially, these are larger-sized Montreal bagels, handsome enough on the outside that you might like to gaze upon them for a time, before slicing. Inside, however, they’re nice and soft, like a New York bagel.”
The upcoming Ikea Way location will expand the shop’s reach beyond the Short North, introducing its nationally celebrated bagels to a new corner of the city. An opening date has not yet been announced.
