Sweet Grass Dairy is preparing to expand its farm store in Fredericktown, bringing a new pasture-raised grocery and community destination to an 1800s timber-framed barn at 6049 Bryant Road, Fredericktown, OH, according to 614now.

The family-owned farm plans to transform the historic barn into a larger retail space, with an anticipated opening in early 2027. The new store will offer a selection of locally sourced and pasture-raised products, including meats, dairy, bread, fresh produce, and other grocery essentials.

Sweet Grass Dairy describes the planned store as the “Parthenon of pasture-raised meat and dairy,” reflecting its focus on regenerative agriculture and food produced through pasture-based farming practices.

The farm says the expansion is intended to give customers greater access to locally produced food while offering more transparency about where their groceries come from. In a statement about the project, the owners noted growing uncertainty among consumers about conventional food systems and emphasized the importance of making informed food choices.

Beyond its grocery offerings, the renovated barn will feature a full gelato shop serving scoops, giving visitors another reason to stop by. Plans also include a back patio, a natural playground for children, and an earthship greenhouse designed to support year-round tropical fruit production.

Visitors will also be able to explore walking trails through the farm’s pastures and gardens, creating opportunities to experience the property and learn more about its agricultural operations.

Sweet Grass Dairy confirmed that its existing farm store will remain open while work on the new space continues, allowing customers to keep shopping at the farm during the expansion.

The project is expected to serve as more than a traditional farm store, with the owners hoping to create a gathering place for the surrounding community. The location is expected to draw shoppers from nearby areas, including Polaris, Lewis Center, Powell, and Delaware.

Further details about the new store, including its exact opening date, product selection, and operating hours, are expected as the project progresses.
