A popular Mexican food truck in Aiken is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar restaurant.

Dos Potrillos Mexican Restaurant, owned by the Garibay family, will open at 119 Laurens St., taking over the former Proper Plate location, according to a Facebook post.

They currently operate at 2286 SC-19 as a pop-up, featuring a food truck, tent and outdoor seating for guests.

“Opening a food service has been my family’s dream for many years and to be able to finally share the authentic Mexican food my family and I eat on a daily basis with the rest of the world is MORE THAN A BLESSING!” the Facebook page bio reads.

The eatery serves authentic Mexican dishes including tacos, tortas, burritos, taco salad bowls, nachos and quesabirrias. Meats range from chicken and steak to pork pastor, chorizo, birria and carnitas, all topped with fresh ingredients like peppers, onions, parsley, jalapeños and a squeeze of lime, along with red, green and hot sauces.

Thirsty? Dos Potrillos offers signature drinks including pineapple water, hibiscus tea and rice-cinnamon water.

The restaurant hasn’t announced an official opening date, but the Facebook post reads: “We’re coming soon!” Follow along for the latest updates.
