A new cocktail bar, Pony’s NYC, is headed to Red Hook, according to a liquor license filled with Brooklyn Community Board 2.
The forthcoming Pony’s NYC is set to open on 424 Van Brunt St. in a 1,100 square-foot space that used to house a yoga studio. Proposed hours of operation span from 8 a.m. to midnight on most days.
Owners Elana Shvalbe and Michael Furac are no strangers to transforming unorthodox locations into an atmospheric space. They operated a pop-up bar, Five Seats, out of a barbershop in 2020 and 2021. Now they’re back in the saddle with Pony’s NYC.
In addition to cocktails, Pony’s NYC will offer a few small shareable plates, according to a sample menu filed with the application. Diners can expect bright flavors in dishes like marinated feta, smoked trout and cucumber salad. There’s also a smaller dessert menu offering rich sweetness in chocolate babka and apricots in honey.
Pony’s NYC has yet to announce an opening date.
