The Artisan by Terra, a new food-focused retail and cafe concept from the owners of Terra Wood Fired Kitchen, is getting ready to open in Yorba Linda at 4893 Main Street.
The new concept, located directly across the street from Terra Wood Fired Kitchen at 4884 Main Street, is being developed by owners Nick and Doreen Saba, according to a recent liquor license application. While an exact opening date has not been finalized, owner Nick Saba tells What Now Orange County that the team is targeting a mid- to late-summer opening, though the timeline could shift. Construction has been underway following a lengthy planning process tied to the building’s history and infrastructure needs.
The Artisan by Terra has been in development for more than three years, according to Saba, with much of that time dedicated to navigating the challenges of renovating a historic structure. The project required coordination with multiple property owners and easements before construction could fully move forward. Progress has picked up in recent months, and the buildout is now moving steadily toward completion. The new space is designed to complement Terra rather than duplicate it.
The new concept will be unique and stand on its own, with a focus on premium meat offerings and artisanal preparation. Certain processes, including dry aging and meat fabrication, will take place on-site, enhancing operational efficiency and delivering a distinctive customer experience. Guests can purchase dry-aged cuts directly from the butcher counter, including items that may also be featured at Terra Wood Fired Kitchen. Nick Saba says this concept is designed to evolve over time, continually refining its offerings and enhancing the guest experience.
The Artisan by Terra will function primarily as a retail-driven space with a strong focus on takeout. Planned offerings include an in-house butchery, a curing room for house-made salamis, a deli and meat case, a gelato case featuring gelato made on site, and a cafe counter. The menu will feature artisan sandwiches, house-made pasta, fresh breads, pastries, and coffee drinks in the morning. Beer and wine will be available for both on-site consumption and retail purchase.
Terra Wood Fired Kitchen has been operating on Main Street for nearly seven years and has built a loyal following for its Mediterranean-inspired menu and wood-fired cooking. The Artisan by Terra represents an extension of that philosophy, leaning into hands-on production and traditional techniques.
As Saba explained, “It is all artisan-focused, hands-on, and old-world techniques with dry curing and dry aging. From my side, it is kind of an ambitious project, but it is one that I have been working on for a long time, and it is finally coming to fruition.”
