Telefèric Barcelona, a family-owned Spanish restaurant group known for tapas, pintxos, and paellas, is getting ready to open a new location in Newport Beach at 401 Newport Center Drive, Suite 311.
The Newport Beach restaurant will open inside Fashion Island, introducing Telefèric Barcelona’s signature Spanish dining style to the shopping center. Founder and Owner Xavi Padrosa tells What Now OC that this location is expected to open in June 2026. The concept is centered on shareable plates, craft cocktails, and a lively dining environment inspired by Spanish culture.
“We are so excited to bring Spain to Newport Beach!” Padrosa tells What Now Media Group.
Telefèric Barcelona serves authentic Spanish cuisine rooted in tradition and regional techniques. The Padrosa family, originally from the Basque region of Spain, pioneered the pintxos and tapas style in Catalonia and works with Spanish chefs to develop menus that combine classic preparations with modern flair. The Newport Beach location will follow the same format as the brand’s other California and international locations.
The restaurant’s beverage program is a key component, featuring more than 100 Spanish wines curated by Catalonian sommeliers and craft cocktails designed to complement the food. Telefèric Barcelona emphasizes a social dining experience, with meals meant to be shared over conversation in a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
Founded in Barcelona in 1992, Telefèric Barcelona has expanded across California with locations in Walnut Creek, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, Los Angeles, Long Beach, La Jolla, Roseville, and now Newport Beach, as well as in Scottsdale, Barcelona, and Sant Cugat. The Newport Beach opening reflects the company’s continued growth and focus on Southern California coastal markets.
