Doppio Zero, a Michelin-recognized Neapolitan-style pizzeria and Italian restaurant, is preparing to expand to Southern California, with a new location in Orange County near Newport Beach.

The new location will be the brand’s first outside the Bay Area, according to the San Francisco Business Times. Doppio Zero currently operates in Mountain View, San Francisco (Hayes Valley), Campbell, Concord, and San Carlos. While no exact opening date has been announced, founder Gianni Chiloiro tells the publication that the expansion is part of a “right-sized” growth strategy focused on quality and manageable operations. Customers can expect wood-fired pizzas, fresh pastas, and Southern Italian dishes.

Founded in 2014 by Chiloiro and Angelo Sannino, Doppio Zero began in Mountain View and quickly built a reputation for accessible, high-quality Italian cuisine. The brand has earned multiple accolades, including Michelin recognition, 50TopPizza awards, and Gambero Rosso honors. The company previously experimented with a spinoff, Johnny & Sanny’s, in Mountain View.

New Bay Area locations are planned for Walnut Creek (1522 N Main St., opening spring 2026) and Livermore (23 S Livermore Ave #101), while a Sacramento-area restaurant is scheduled for 2027 at Westfield Galleria at Roseville. After that, Chiloiro hopes to sign another lease in Orange County, in or near Newport Beach, where he lives and owns two other restaurants under different brands. He is also considering a future Doppio Zero in Scottsdale, Arizona, which Bay Area readers may recognize as the Spring Training home of the San Francisco Giants.

The menu centers on classic Southern Italian flavors, including Neapolitan pizzas made with imported 00 flour, handmade pastas, seafood, and favorites like Margherita, Diavola, and calzones. The Orange County location will bring these offerings to a new audience while maintaining the brand’s focus on quality, hospitality, and consistent execution. This will be an excellent landing space for Doppio Zero as it extends beyond its Northern California roots.
