A new coffee shop putting an emphasis on community is coming to Old Town this year.

From their social media, Rest + Recreation is a new concept coming to 1359 N Wells Street. It is taking the space of the former Patina Collection home goods store. An opening date has not yet been announced, but the team is looking at late spring or early summer.

“Coffee. Cocktails. Community. All day every day. Tucked in a cozy corner of Chicago’s Old Town,” says the description on their Instagram page.

The coffee shop is already listed online, and it is opening at the corner of N Wells Street and W Schiller Street across from Orso’s Italian restaurant. Also in this area of Old Town are Small Cheval, Old Town Pub and Old Jerusalem Restaurant. The address is only a 10 minute drive from The Loop.

No menu has been released yet, but guests can expect coffees like espressos and specially made cocktails. As it gets closer to the opening, the team will be updating followers on the menu items.

Rest + Recreation is currently under construction and has been a registered business since December 2025. The project comes from local business owner Elizabeth Transier, who announced a few days ago the new concept will be opening in Old Town. What Now Chicago has reached out to Transier and is awaiting comment.
