Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale County Public Health carried out a routine inspection on February 17 in the area. Among them, Wing Nook was cited for several health violations that resulted in the eatery receiving a low score of 65 U.

Wing Nook serves chicken wings in the neighborhood. As per the report, the restaurant was found to be in several violations. They were:
- The person in charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of the Georgia Food Code.
- An employee was observed eating at the front counter at the start of the inspection and continued to keep food and beverages in an unapproved location, the report said. Education was provided, and all employee food and beverages were relocated to the designated area.
- The report noted that the steak egg rolls were stored in a cardboard lid that had previously been used for raw chicken. This is the second consecutive occurrence of this violation. All affected egg rolls were discarded.
- Seasoned raw chicken wings, seasoned raw chicken breast, and steak egg rolls prepared the previous day were observed holding above 41°F. This is the second consecutive occurrence of this violation. All affected food items were discarded.

- An employee was observed preparing egg rolls in the employee area outside of the approved kitchen, the report mentioned. All items were discarded due to additional violations.
- Steak egg rolls were again observed stored in a cardboard lid originally used for raw chicken. Both the egg rolls and the cardboard container were discarded.
- The report said that employees’ food and personal items were observed stored on shelving above facility food and supplies in dry storage. They were also kept above the sauce containers in the walk-in cooler. All items were relocated to the appropriate areas.

Follow-up Inspection

As per the report, Wing Nook will undergo a reinspection within 10 days of the inspection. The restaurant is expected to earn a B or better mark in the follow-up.
