Beloved Williamsburg restaurant, Pies ‘n’ Thighs, is headed to Prospect Heights, according to a liquor license filed with Brooklyn Community Board Six. The restaurant is set to open on 244 Flatbush Ave. in a 1,600 square-foot corner space that formerly housed Pecking House.

Pies ‘n’ Thighs first opened in 2006, operating in the back of a Kent Street dive bar. The location abruptly closed in 2008 following a run-in with the Department of Health. Founder and pastry chef Sarah Sanneh reopened the restaurant in 2010 on S 4th St., operating (in accordance with health requirements) within a stone’s throw of the Williamsburg Bridge.

Most recently, Sanneh opened an ice cream shop, Heap’s Ice Cream, in Park Slope in 2025, alongside co-owner Matt Lieber, specializing in ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cakes. The two are opening the Prospect Heights Pies ‘n’ Thighs together.

Pies ‘n’ Thighs serves Southern comfort food. You could get their deep-fried chicken or go for their cornmeal-fried catfish, both coming in a box or in a sandwich. Regardless of your choice, that first bite will have you unconsciously releasing the tension in your shoulder muscles. What the heck, while you’re there, try one of their desserts, like their donuts or spicy molasses cookies. I will not tell anyone if you order your bourbon pecan pie with a slight Southern drawl, but you simply must get a slice of pie. “They’re enough to restore the faith of anybody who’s eaten too many fancy desserts,” Pete Wells once wrote of their pies in The New York Times.

Pies ‘n’ Thighs in Prospect Heights does not have an opening date as of yet. What Now New York has reached out for more information.
