Tacos, sizzling fajitas and tequila are soon to arrive in the city.

From their social media, Mangos Tequila Bar is coming to 2795 Wilder Road in Bay City. This was the former UNO Pizzeria location that closed in March 2025. Co-owner Lucy Garcia told What Now Detroit the team is just waiting on kitchen equipment to be delivered, so a mid-to-late March opening is likely.

The restaurant was founded by husband-and-wife duo Arturo Mendez and Garcia in 2015 at 121 West Chisholm Street in Alpena. Since then, the two have expanded to a location at the Thunder Bay Shopping Center in East Tawas. They first teased the third restaurant coming to Bay City in late November of last year.

Mendez has been working in the restaurant industry since he was 15, eventually meeting Garcia who had the vision of opening their own business. First opening as Mangos Mexican Cuisine, they turned the concept into Mangos Tequila Bar after a short time.

“We’re not just a restaurant, we’re a place where the community comes together to experience culture, connection and celebration.,” said a statement Mendez sent to What Now Detroit.

The menu for Bay City will have many of the same dishes from other locations, but is going to be “changed a bit.” Regulars at Mangos know to expect their street tacos and birria tacos. Locations also serve seafood like grilled lime salmon, fajitas and chimichangas. The new menu will be available soon.

Mangos Tequila Bar is just off of Interstate 75, across from Cracker Barrel and Lucky’s Steakhouse. This is on the north side of Bay City. A Ponderosa Steakhouse location is also on the same side of the road.

Along with new equipment, Mendez and Garcia still need to hire staff to open the new location. For more information on Mangos Tequila Bar and the opening date, visit their website.
