Franchisee Shak Patel just opened a new Potbelly location in Midtown Charlotte, marking his sixth location with the brand. However, Patel has plans for further expansion in the market.

Patel is setting his sights on areas including Concord, Huntersville and Mooresville, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Plans for further locations are still in the early stages of development.

Potbelly, founded in 1977, is known for a wide array of toasted sandwiches, along with other menu offerings such as salads, soups, cookies and shakes. It now has more than 400 locations across the U.S.

With the Midtown opening, there are now 13 locations in North Carolina, including spots in Ballantyne, Uptown and Southpark. Another multi-unit franchisee team is looking to bring six locations to the Triad area, starting with one in Winston-Salem this year.
