CRÚ Wine Bar & Bistro is heading to Portman’s 34-story residential tower Linea in South End, according to a release. It is targeting a late fall opening in a 2,389-square-foot space at 2161 Hawkins St., Suite 110.

The Dallas-based concept offers a vast wine collection, offering more than 30 wines by the glass and more than 300 bottle selections. It also offers charcuterie, Italian-style sandwiches, pinsa pizzas and entrees such as braised short ribs and seared jumbo scallops.

Originally launched in 2002, the brand currently has locations in Texas, Georgia and North Carolina. It underwent an acquisition last year. CEO Patrick Colombo and Simon Bozas, the founding partner of Mezas Capital Group and CFO of CRÚ, are ushering in a new wave of growth. The Charlotte expansion will mark the second spot in the state, joining one location open in Cary.

“Expansion is a major focus for CRÚ as we enter this next phase of growth,” Bozas said in the release. “South End’s energy, density and strong sense of community made it a natural fit for us. With its walkable setting and seamless connectivity, Linea provides the perfect backdrop for everything from an impromptu glass of wine to a celebratory night out, all within a refined yet approachable atmosphere.”

CRÚ is also charting a path toward expansion in Florida and Arizona. The brand is aiming to spread to 30 locations across the country.

CRÚ will join other tenants including Half Shell Oyster from local restaurateurs Jeff van Dyke and Bruce Moffett; skincare brand Peachy; JETSET Pilates; and Night Swim Coffee.

“Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working with CRÚ at a variety of premier mixed-use communities, such as Avalon, The Battery Atlanta, Fenton and now, Linea,” Dotan Zuckerman, head of retail development at Portman, said in the release. “We actively seek concepts that prioritize our core principles of ground-floor activation and hospitality and CRÚ is a proven leader in this space. Its emphasis on great food, drinks and the overall guest experience makes it the perfect addition to Linea’s already stellar retail lineup.”
