A new option for pizza in beer is opening close to Ryan Field in the near future.
From reports, a new tavern-style pizzeria called The Spot is coming to 1700 Central Street in Evanston. This will be a bar also serving Italian dishes. Co-owner Otto Ade told What Now Chicago he is hoping to open around May 18-30 depending on the construction timeline.
The owners are Ade along with Evanston local Fred Gale. Ade has been behind projects like Tiki Tiki at the Silver Palm and Good Neighbors. He remembers another restaurant with the name “The Spot” which he went to for childhood birthday parties, and he wanted to honor the past business in some way.
“That always kind of stuck with me,” Ade said.
Ten Mile House at the space just announced today that the restaurant is closing and will be replaced by The Spot. After more than 10 years in the suburb, the team is shifting focus to their sister restaurant Comida Cantina at 1928 Central Street.
“We have loved being a part of the Central Street community since 2014. Ten Mile House will continue to be open until mid-March,” said a recent statement from the restaurant owner.
The Spot’s menu has not been released, but based on their website it will serve different kinds of tavern-style pizzas, pastas, salads and small bites. Beer will be on tap, and a bar program is also planned. Space for outdoor dining from Ten Mile House may also be utilized.
“10 Mile had a great run,” Ade said.
Those walking down Central Street will find The Spot at the corner of Eastwood Avenue, on the same side of the street as DB3 Donuts. The owners just recently set up a website for the restaurant, which can be found here.
