Burgers are making a triumphant return to a Memphis storefront for the first time since 2022. Southern comfort classic Cook Out is taking over the space on Union Avenue vacated by Back Yard Burgers, with the blessing of the Memphis Board of Adjustment, reports Daily Memphian.
Cook Out is moving forward with Board approval to open in the 1723 Union Avenue storefront. The location is part of a larger development within the Memphis dining community to formulate a powerful Cook Out presence.
CEO Jeremy Reaves offers some insight into Cook Out’s vision for the city, saying “The reason we decided we wanted to do this location is we want to do what we did in Wilmington (North Carolina) and in Charlotte, North Carolina, where we have a drive-thru only, we have a dining room, we have a headquarters, we have a training center, (and) we have (a human resources) center. We have a whole headquarters set up. We’re working on locations right now.”
Cook Out plans to turn the 834 square foot storefront into a drive-thru only location. While diners may not be able to enjoy their meals immediately, they will be able to take their favorite Cook Out dishes to savor in the comfort of their own homes.
