Jimmy John’s has opened a new location in Detroit. The chain celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 11. The restaurant chain is part of The Tomey Group and started its journey in Novi more than two decades ago.
Jimmy John’s Opens New Corktown Location With Grand Celebrations
The fast-casual sandwich chain Jimmy John’s has opened a new location on Wednesday, March 11. To mark the grand opening of the restaurant, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 10:30 am.
The fast-casual chain is operated by a Michigan-based franchise group, the Tomey Group. The new restaurant is about 1,600 square feet in size and located at 1620 Michigan Avenue in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood.
The first 25 customers at the grand opening received free chips and a drink with a sandwich purchase. The menu features Jimmy John’s signature sandwiches and sides. The menu also includes popular items such as the Hunter’s Club, J.J.B.L.T., and Jimmy Cubano.
The location will also offer newer menu items like a Greek Gyro, a Chicken Gyro, and a Greek Cucumber Salad available for a limited time.
The Tomey Group Continues Michigan Expansion
Headquartered in Farmington Hills, the Tomey Group opened its first Jimmy John’s location in Novi in 2003. Since then, the family-owned company has expanded across Southeast Michigan. Over the years, the group has become one of the largest Jimmy John’s franchise operators in the country.
In addition to its restaurant portfolio, the group is involved in several other business ventures across Michigan, including real estate and partnerships with local brands.

With the opening of the Corktown restaurant, the company continues expanding its footprint in Detroit. Jimmy John’s new opening marks another quick-service dining option in one of the city’s most well-known neighborhoods.
