The countdown is on for Memphis institution Second Line to begin its second act. The beloved restaurant, helmed by celebrated chef Kelly English, will be opening soon in its new location next to its sibling concept, Restaurant Iris, reports Memphis Business Journal.
News first broke of Second Line’s relocation to 4550 Poplar Avenue in autumn of 2025. The Laurelwood Shopping Center storefront will enjoy a close relationship with Restaurant Iris; the two eateries will be sharing bathrooms and a kitchen.
Fans of Second Line from its original 2144 Monroe Avenue home can rest assured that the restaurant will maintain the New Orlean’s charms that so intensely endeared it to customers, with enough changes to make the move exciting.
Second Line 2.0 will include certain aesthetic changes, however future regulars are doubtless most invested in how the cuisine may be impacted. Parents will be delighted to hear that English states that he is “thinking a lot about the kids’ menu and how we want to approach kids at Second Line.” He is also planning to incorporate some alterations to the main menu, including adding some healthier options.
The po’ boys, however, will remain the restaurant’s true star and centerpiece.
A precise opening date is not yet available for Second Line’s new location, however locals will not have to wait much longer to snag a table; a few cosmetic alterations remain to be completed but English anticipates opening within the month.
