Following their success in Commerce Township, a local brewery has eyes set on a New Hudson location.
From recent reports, Kickstand Brewing is expanding to their second location in the former home of Draught Horse Brewery, 57721 Grand River Avenue. This follows Draught Horse’s closure in September last year. The owners are aiming for a summer opening date.
Owners Brendan Rogers and Scott Emerick founded the microbrewery in 2016 at 3050 Union Lake Road, Suite 4A. Their rotating taps have become popular local options, like imperial stouts, hazy IPA’s and even a bark chocolate porter. It is also a spot to grab an entree like a burger or pizza.
“World class beer, uniquely our own,” says the description on their website.
The old Draught Horse Brewery location closed after 10 years of serving the community. The reason for the shut down has not been revealed, but the new owners were able to keep some of the staff from Draught Horse. Kickstand Brewing will keep the brewpub style for the building.
The brewery space is near the roundabout of Grand River Avenue and New Hudson Drive, close to Interstate 96. It features multiple sit-down areas inside and an outdoor patio. Other restaurants just down the road include New Hudson Inn Grill, Jonna’s Bar & Grill and Whole Hearted Winery Brewery & Distillery.
What Now Detroit has reached out to the owners and is awaiting comment. More updates on the opening date can be found on their social media pages including Facebook.
