In news certain to make area poultry enthusiasts cluck with delight, an upcoming chicken restaurant is showing signs of forward momentum. Birdy’s Chicken has taken the next step towards opening its doors in Cordova.

The fried chicken establishment is setting up shop at 1204 N Houston Levee Road. A commercial alteration permit filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development states that the restaurant will span 2,606 square feet.

The commercial alteration permit is still under review as of March 17 of this year. The space requires a certain amount of renovation-the form describes it as “Reconfigure space for fried chicken restaurant food establishment.”

While a great deal of information is not available about the restaurant, fried chicken is a rather safe bet on the fast-casual dining scene. The dish has become a powerful contender, rivaling even the burger for popularity, suggesting Birdy’s Chicken will likely be a hit once it opens its doors to customers.
