A new matcha and coffee spot is set to open in Hatboro this April, serving specialty drinks in a one-of-a-kind setting.

The Matcha Spot, owned by Pavlo, Andrew and Jennifer Shostak, will open in a trailer at 18 Horsham Rd.

“The inspiration behind the brand was to start a local matcha place since we didn’t really have anything like that around. Our vibe is unique with it being by a creek and having a beautiful seating area,” Pavlo told What Now Philadelphia.

The Shostaks signed a lease with Concordance Ferments, placing their trailer along the scenic Pennypack Creek. A spacious deck overlooking the water will seat up to 30 guests.

The grand opening menu will feature iced drinks such as the raspberry matcha, vanilla matcha, iced caramel latte and iced cinnamon bliss latte; hot drinks including a classic latte and honey cinnamon latte; and Red Bull refreshers like the strawberry energy and coconut blast.

“We specifically tailor our drinks to our social media audience, so our followers decide what to put on the menu and what to keep out,” Pavlo said.

All matcha drinks come with 3 grams of matcha powder, and all coffees include two shots of espresso.

“Our coffee is medium roast from Brazil and our matcha is a ceremonial mix with premium latte grade from Japan,” he said.

The Matcha Spot explains the difference between matcha and coffee on its website. Matcha, made from pulverized green tea leaves, contains about 70 mg of caffeine and provides energy for four to six hours. Coffee, made from beans, contains about 95 mg of caffeine and provides energy for one to three hours.

The team is eagerly anticipating the shop’s opening, and Pavlo said, “The most rewarding part is probably still to come after we open.”
