Those walking down S Ashley Street in Ann Arbor have been wondering what is going on in the flower-painted building.

Aperitivo is a new cocktail and wine bar coming to 200 S Ashley Street. The space at the corner of W Washington Street is under construction right now, with bar seating being installed. Staff have not announced an opening date.

In a recent post from the wine bar, the concept is described as a “new after work destination.” The bar will serve wine, light beer and spirits, from recent pictures. In the post, it is explained that “aperitivo” means pre-meal drink in Italian, usually a lower-alcohol percent beverage:

“To socialize, unwind and prepare the palate for a meal. Typically low-alcohol, bitter or bubbly beverages including Vermouth, Campari, Prosecco or Amaro,” says the post.

MLive reported on the building undergoing renovations, with the possible addition of a food truck at the space. The 1,000-square-foot space also features a new patio in front, thought to be for the truck. When What Now Detroit reached out to the owners, they were not available for comment.

Aperitivo will be next to Recess Cafe and across the street from Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea. This is also a short walk from Bill’s Beer Garden and many other downtown restaurants and bars along W Liberty Street. The picturesque Ouizi Mural stretches from the building to Recess Cafe’s side wall.
